McNEIL DELIGHTS HIS FANS!
Once it looked like McNeil had Terrell hurt, but he did not throw in the towell
he came back out swinging in the third round. "I wanted to jump on him hard in
the first
couple of rounds and put some good body work on him, said McNeil. "I
wanted to
wear him down with those body shots and take his wind and energy so in the later
rounds I could take him out with head shots." In the third round Terrell got in
a
good shot on McNeil after bouncing off the ropes, he landed a good shot right on
McNeil's
already broke nose. "I was trying to use one of my old friend's tricks,"
said Terrell.
"I play like I'm hurt and then bounce off the rope and catch him, he caught the first
one,
but did not want to catch another one so he stayed away from me when I got on the
ropes."
McNeil came back and took advantage of the bout. He got some good shots in, but
reinjured his had
in the fifth round. "He hurt his hand and I tried to take advantage of
that," said Terrell. "I
tried to set him up but he wouldn't fall for it." McNeil controlled the rest of
the fight, even
with a sore hand, but was unable to knock Terrell out.
In another fight Laurel's Bo Skipper won a TKO victory over Charles Chaney.
Phillip Hammac of Philadelphia, Mississippi kept fans on their feet with an exciting
grudge match.
Chuck Orso had knocked out Phillip Hammac earlier in his career. Hammac was
able to get his revenge. Judges scored the four-round bout for Hammac.
On August 17, 2002 McNeil's Boxing Gym will have four fighters on the card in
Tunica along with James Jones. This will be a delayed TV broadcast, which
will be televised on the 24 of August on Comcast.
